Jack, Matt, and Beau — Founders of Chosen To Give
(Written by Matt)
THE STORY
This community was never built as a brand.
It was born out of a realisation.
A slow burn of discontent that started deep inside two Aussie lads (Jack and Beau) who had worked trade jobs their whole lives back home.
On the surface, things looked great.
More than great, actually. They’d reached the phase of expensive bikes, mansion living, and meals that cost more than most people’s monthly wage.
But the deeper they got into the lives they were building, the more disconnected they became. It showed up everywhere.
In their bodies (from 60+ hour weeks). In their minds (from the stress they carried). And in their faith (from starving the soul of fulfilment).
The more they chased success, the less meaning they found in it.
Eventually, that disconnect became impossible to ignore. Another chaotic trip to Bali in 2024 became a turning point.
After staring into the abyss and feeling nothing but emptiness, they took what they had left and gave it to an orphanage in Lombok.
An act of giving that flipped the script entirely.
Paradoxically, Jack and Beau left feeling like they’d received more than they gave.
All the mental and physical weight they’d been carrying — gone. Instantly.
And it wasn’t a fleeting buzz. It stuck.
They went home and sold their businesses, liquidated everything, and started again.
Not long after, I met them in Bali.
I’m Matt. Over the past few years I’ve been moving through the world in search of something more real.
I’ve spent nights with tribal descendants of Alexander the Great in the Pakistani mountains. Lived off-grid in both rural Thailand (Isan) and the northern Malaya jungle (Kedah). Climbed isolated peaks in Taiwan and run ultra-marathons around the full coastlines of more than half a dozen islands you’ve probably never heard of.
These endurance tests have taken me to the edge more times than I can count. But that’s by design. That’s what I was looking for.
What I didn’t expect was the people I met along the way, and the impact they’d have on me.
They didn’t ask for help. But many of them needed it. And often, I had nothing to give but words.
I always told myself one day I’d find a way to do more than just witness it.
Now I can.
Chosen To Give is that way.
We’re not saints. And we’re not influencers either.
We’re just men who believe there’s a better way to move through the world.
A world where you don’t need to give up your strength or your ambition to live with purpose.
Where helping others isn’t something reserved for spare change and leftover time. It’s something you lead with.
Something you build around.
One of our core goals in the mission statement (below) is to “make helping cool again.”
Whether it’s through fitness, faith, business (or any other walk of life) we want to create a community that proves it.
We’ve seen what happens when you chase power and leave meaning behind.
We’ve lived it.
And we’ve walked away from it.
Chosen To Give is about building a community of people who want to do more, feel more, and live with more fulfilment and intention.
People who want to feed their mind, body and soul in a way that leaves a mark --> not just on their own life --> but on every life they cross paths with.
If any part of this speaks to you,
you’re already one of us.
Welcome to Chosen To Give.
MISSION STATEMENT
We’ve all been taught that giving means letting go of something.
Time. Money. Energy.
But what if we’ve got it backwards?
What if giving isn’t about loss, but about gain?
That’s the heartbeat behind Chosen To Give.
Not a brand. A way of living.
One that reminds us we’re not here just to take or chase — but to leave something behind that actually matters.
Sometimes that means running 140km through a storm with food poisoning to feed a village of stray dogs (true story).
Sometimes it’s helping burnt-out construction workers get a hot meal.
Other times it’s teaching kids how to throw a punch, speak English, and believe they’re worth something.
Different stories --> Same ethos.
We call these chapters Chosen To Endure, Chosen To Rebuild, Chosen To Educate... and we’re just getting started.
This isn’t about charity in the traditional sense.
It’s about how you choose to move through the world.
With intention. With guts. With faith.
(And maybe with a slightly busted knee or two.)
We believe strength and service don’t cancel each other out.
You can be powerful and still lead with purpose.
In fact, that’s the whole point.
So we live it first, then we invite others in.
Not to follow us -> but to walk beside us <-
To help make helping cool again.
To show that you don’t need to be rich to make an impact.
You just need to care enough to act.
